Eastney is a district located in the southeast corner of Portsmouth. In 1867 the barracks for the Royal Marines was built along the seafront and the surrounding farmland. The site later expanded with a network of streets built to house Marines and their families, which spread west from the barracks. Eastney is also home to the Royal Marines Museum and Eastney Beam Engine House, as well as a council swimming pool and a camping/caravan site.

Residential Area...

Eastney has a diverse selection of residential properties; the western area is predominantly terraced houses, some of which are over 150 years old. The eastern area has a more modern housing. The former barracks has since been converted in the early 90's but has kept its Victorian charm.


Mainly built up of residential properties your nearest shopping area would be the Pomey Centre for your Household DIY, Southsea Precinct or Fratton Road for your larger superstores. There are a number of local conveniences within walking distance.


Pubs Bars & Clubs - There are plenty of local Pubs to chose from whether you are looking for a family get together at the places like the 'Good Companion' or if you are looking for an alternative music venue such as 'The Eastney Cellars' or 'The Eastern Tavern'

Restaurants - The Tenth Hole (situated along the seafront) is popular for not only its pitch and putt but for its traditional cream tea's and homemade cakes, this can be found and unless you are looking for just a pub lunch the nearest place for eating out would be Albert Rd or Southsea

Bus/Coach - There are multiple bus routes, connections available within eastney that are frequently placed, with regular arrival times.

Parking - On Street parking is available however limited. Most roads have restricted parking as a resident you would be required to obtain a residential parking permit which you can apply for via Portsmouth City Council with proof of residency.
