Overview...

Hedge End is a town and civil parish located in Hampshire in England. It is situated to the east of the City of Southampton, adjoining the districts of West End and Botley. Hedge End lies within the Borough of Eastleigh and is part of the Southampton Urban Area.  It is sometimes mistakenly claimed that the Rose Bowl, home of Hampshire County Cricket Club is part of Hedge End. The Rose Bowl is situated nearby in West End benefitting from the road and rail links that serve the area and allowing Hedge End residents to benefit from its proximity.


Residential Area...

Hedge End has a couple of new developments offering a massive range of townhouses, houses, flats and apartments in the White’s Way development, Turnpike Way and also the Botleigh Grange development. Hedge also offers a large estate offering plenty of detached and semi-detached housing, perfect for families.  As well as this Hedge End also benefits from detached family homes in more secluded areas.


Shopping...

Hedge End offers two supermarkets to choose from Sainsbury’s or Marks & Spencers.  It also offers a PC World, Halfords and Homebase.  As well as this, Hedge End also has plenty of convenience stores such as Tesco express.


Nightlife...

As far as nightlife goes, you would be better off heading to Southampton City Centre which benefits from endless amounts of pubs, bars and nightclubs.  As well as this, Hedge End offers plenty of pubs such as Shamblehurst Barn which is very popular which the locals as a family restaurant and pub.


Local Schools...

The town is served by Wildern Secondary School which currently has around 1800 pupils. The Wildern site, on Wildern Lane near the town centre.   It also has a recently renovated sports centre which serves the local community with a large sports hall, indoor heated swimming pool, toddlers' swimming pool, gym facilities and a professional dance studio. The school also has an astro-turf area.  Shamblehurst Primary School is adjacent to the Wildern site. Freegrounds Infant and Junior School's occupy a shared site on the other side of the town centre. King Copse Primary School is also in Hedge End, located near the Cranbourne Park area. Kings Copse Primary School is also very local. It boasts many modern facilities and provides a stunning learning environment for its pupils.  An additional primary school, Wellstead, opened at Dowd's Farm in Grange Park in April 2008 built nearly 20 years after Berrywood Primary School, which was the first primary built in the Grange Park area.


Transport...

West End is only a short walk to Hedge End train station, offering links to Southampton, London etc.  West End also offers plenty of bus routes to Southampton.
